Les acides carboxyliques sont des acides faibles car ils ne se dissocient pas totalement et que son pKa est supérieur à 0. Un acide est fort lorsqu'il se dissocie totalement et que son pKa=0. Le fait d'être un acide faible n'empêche pas le fait d'être classé parmi les plus acides.
